Risk Assessment

Risk assessment is a science-based process that consists of hazard identification, dose-response analysis, and exposure quantification. The majority of our work is used for risk assessment in one form or another. We typically approach risk assessment in a tiered or stepwise fashion, beginning with relatively simple, conservative methods and progressing to a more sophisticated analysis only if the additional efforts are needed.

Waterborne has assisted chemical companies, legal firms, and industry task forces on a number of ecological and human health risk assessments through the use of probabilistic modeling, GIS, monitoring, data interpretation, and the development of white papers. We’ve also assisted clients in developing and evaluating mitigation measures to reduce the magnitude of risk.

We have contributed to regulatory and industry work groups in the development of risk assessment tools and methods, including ECOFRAM, GeoSTAC, FEMVTF, FOCUS, PRZM, RADAR, EXPRESS, and RICEWQ.

  • Litigation and Expert Witness. Viewed by many as unbiased scientists, we provide objective views on the fate of pesticides in the environment
  • Regulatory Support. Our understanding of the limitations in existing procedures allows us to recommend more accurate, refined data for registration.
  • Ecotoxicology. We offer a wide range of ecotoxicology assessment services that address regulatory and environmental concerns as part of the risk assessment process.
