2017 Workshop on Innovation and Regulation in Agriculture
On October 23-24, the 2017 Workshop on Innovation and Regulation in Agriculture will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina. This workshop is hosted by NC State University (College of Ag and Life Sciences) and Bayer, and sponsored by SETAC and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. Waterborne CEO, Matt Kern, joins the team of workshop organizers, which is comprised of academic, government and industry scientists.
The topic of this year’s workshop will be: Overcoming the Challenges of Incorporating Higher-Tier Data in Ecological Risk Assessments and Risk Management of Pesticides. Pyrethroid insecticides, a class of compounds currently under registration review by the USEPA, will be used as a case study for discussion. The ultimate goals of this workshop are to identify the greatest challenges regarding the use of higher-tier studies in ecological risk assessments and in risk management decisions, and to develop a series of recommendations to improve he process for designing, conducting, evaluating, and utilizing higher-tier studies for risk assessment and risk management of pesticides.
