Being a Topic Organizer for an IUPAC Congress is all about coordination and communication. For over a year and a half, Amy Ritter has been working on organizing the symposia for the Environmental Fate and Metabolism topic. She and her committee began by coming up with a proposed list of symposia (which was whittled down to nine) and choosing two co-chairs for each session. Since then, Amy has been working with the chairs to organize the nine symposia. Marty Williams also has an organizational role at the upcoming IUPAC Congress. He is chairing the Global Food Production and Food Security symposium—one of the Emerging Issues and Challenges sessions. It will all come together at the 13th IUPAC International Congress of Pesticide Chemistry which takes place August 10–14, 2014 in San Francisco, CA.
