Update: iSTREEM® 2.0 Released
Waterborne is happy to release iSTREEM® 2.0 “in-stream exposure model”, a new updated version of the free and publically-available web-based model supported by the American Cleaning Institute. iSTREEM® provides a means to estimate chemical concentrations in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluents, receiving waters, and drinking water intakes across the continental US under mean annual and low-flow (7Q10) conditions. iSTREEM® 2.0 includes major enhancements to the underlying data and presentation of results. It incorporates geographic locations of over 12,000 WWTPs (derived from latest available USEPA Clean Watershed Needs Survey) along a US-wide river network (based on NHDPlus version 2 with mean annual and low-flow/7Q10 data). This represents approximately 300,000 miles of effluent-impacted river reaches, providing a framework to integrate geographic data to assess environmental risk of down-the-drain chemicals. These developments are geared towards adoption of the model as an environmental exposure assessment tool across multiple commodity groups including personal care products, pharmaceuticals, food additives and pesticides.
