Waterborne Participates in an International Ionogenic Organic Chemicals Workshop
In November 2014, Duane Huggett, Waterborne’s Lead Scientist, Toxicology and Risk Assessment, attended the Experts Workshop on the Ecotoxicological Risk Assessment of Ionizable Organic Chemicals: Towards a Science-Based Framework for Chemical Assessment, an exclusive workshop in Vancouver, Canada. The workshop brought together scientific experts from industry, academia and consulting to discuss the environmental fate, toxicity and bioaccumulation of ionogenic organic chemicals in the environment. The goal of this workshop was to determine the state of the science for ionogenic chemicals in the environment and provide recommendations for the ecological risk assessment of ionogenic chemicals. A series of peer-reviewed publications describing the workshop outcomes are anticipated in the near future. The workshop was sponsored by the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI), the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), CEFIC, and the Government of Canada.
